BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – As Buena Vida Estates, the longest running continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Brevard County celebrates it’s 30th anniversary, it is installing 21st century digital technology with the help of Sushoo Health Information Exchange.
Buena Vida, the only CCRC of its kind in Brevard County, has 162 independent living and 48 assisted living apartments, a memory care facility, an Alzheimer’s care facility and a wide variety of other facilities and services.

With on site physicians and a medical clinic, an outpatient rehabilitation facility and plans for a dental facility and ophthalmology center, Buena Vida has a lot to offer it’s over 250 residents.
Paper Records To Electronic Medical Records
In order to continually improve its service and efficiency for its guests, Buena Vida has made the decision to convert its paper records to electronic medical records (EMR) and join the health information exchange (HIE) of Sushoo an industry leader.
“We did months of research to find the best company to work with to install EMR and we chose Sushoo,” said Spaulding.
“We believe that Sushoo is the simplest and most user friendly system available and with their expert service and support staff right here in Melbourne, we feel very good about our decision.”
With Sushoo HIE, physicians, nursing homes and hospitals – no matter where they are located – can be on the same page, with instant access to patient information.

Real-Time Date Exchange
The Sushoo system also allows the Assisted Living Facility to connect with their business partners like labs, pharmacies, home health agencies, hospice providers, hospitals and physicians, providing real-time exchange of data with anyone, anywhere in the world.
“For patients, Sushoo HIE means convenience,” said Dr. Geetha Priyanka, Medical Director and co-founder of Sushoo.
“By allowing healthcare providers to simply and securely share data over the internet with another physician or care giving organization, Sushoo spares patients the hassle of duplicate tests and data collection.”
Buena Vida will complete the conversion and go live with Sushoo in the next two months.

Connecting the assisted living facility resident with their family, the Sushoo portal provides for sharing of pictures, newsletters, messages and health education materials.
This feature gives the assisted living facilities the marketing edge as families from anywhere can be connected to their loved ones as residents.
“Sushoo will enable us to provide better and safer service to our residents and that is the main reason that we are going forward for the conversion,” said Spaulding.
“After the installation of Sushoo is completed, we are looking forward to the extended family members of our residents being able to stay more connected with their loved ones care, as they will be able to draw information from the electronic network.”
